Gastric Surgery Success

Hello Everyone!

My Gastric bypass was on February 6, 2015 and the recovery was a little more than I expected.  Tough being off work for about 3 weeks but feeling great now.  Today is March 10, 2015 about 4 1/2 weeks since surgery.  I am down 29 pounds and fitting into some of my clothes that I have not been able to wear for quite a while.  Some of the symptoms are pretty similar to the band when it comes to quantity and types of food.  I feel much better not being able to feel the band device in the area it was placed.  Heres to continuing losing and feeling better.  Need to walk more often!!!

Hello, Hello, Hello,
I have not posted in a long time.  My new update is not a good one but we are going to make some changes and move forward.  I have decided to have the gastric bypass.  In the last 2 years I have gained all of my weight back and am disappointed that I did not do the gastric to begin with.  I have gone through all of the hoops and surgery is scheduled for February 6, 2014 in Fresno CA.  Only two more weeks.  I do not want to fail again so I am putting myself in a completely different mind set.  I will succeed and use my resources.  My husband is being very supportive however he is nervous.  Well I hope for some feedback from anyone elses experiences.

See you soon

Progress YA!

The band was definately tight this weekend but it wasn't too bad!  I lost 4 lbs so that is great.  Water was even slow to go down but as the days went by it got much better.  I am very glad I did not go in on Friday and have some taken out!  I can deal I just have to chew, chew, chew and drink slower.

Have a great week

Back at It!!

Hello everyone I know it has been a while.  The process has been discouraging lately. I am doing really good watching that I do not eat bread, pasta, rice etc and I have been walking about 3 nights a week but have had little weight loss progress.  I went back to the doctor yesterday and they were aggressive with my FILL!  Oh boy today and last night has been rough.  I tried to take my pills this morning that didn't work.  I am on my 48 hours of liquids which I can get down ok but I am really worried about how tight my band is.  I tried to chew a vitamin this morning and drink some water to get it down and it came right back up.  Can anyone give advise on how much I should tolerate with the tightness.  I do not mind drinking liquids and soft foods for a while I just worry I won't get enough of what I need such as vitamins, protein etc.

ANY THOUGHTS??????

Tomato soup for lunch today was good!!!  Special K protein drink for breakfast!!!  I wonder what exciting I can do for lunch LOL.

See you soon!

I'm Back

Sorry everyone it has been such a crazy month!  My Nana passed away last week and the weeks before that we were busy visiting everyday and doing what we could.  I am very sad that she will not be with us anymore however she is in a much better place.  The stress is still continuing for the family with all of the little details and things that need to be done but I am getting back on track.

I have definately come to recognize that stress is an excuse for me to EAT!  I didn't lose weight for about 3 weeks but I finally kicked it and lost 2 lbs  Woo Hoo!  I need to get back in the swing of excercising at night.  I am just tired all of the time so I get home do things around the house and then sit!  Which then is followed but snacking of course.  Would love some good snack ideas other than fruit and veggies!!!

I had another fill day before yesterday so I am just coming off liquids to soft foods today.  I have a total of 5 cc's now.  Havent noticed too much of a difference but I really haven't eaten any solid food yet so we will see.  Well here is to a challenging weekend of food and drinks at friends.  Lets see how we do!!

Sad Week!

Well I guess my "Title" is kind of misleading.  It was a sad week for me and my family because my Nana had a huge set back.  She was put into ICU on Saturday and will not be coming home.  The damage that was done is going to be permanent and so she will be moved to convalescent (spelling) care.  She is 95 years old but has always been full of energy, laughter and probably the best lady you will ever have met in your life.  I do not think I was ready for this but I also do not think I would have ever been ready.  We have all been taking care of her 24 hours a day for the past 9 months but this is exactly what she didn't want.  She can no longer talk to us to tell us what she needs and she is not mobile.  I always thought it would have been quick so she didn't have to go through this.  My daughter has been wonderful going to the hospital every day along with the rest of the family.  We feed her, talk to her and try and understand what she wants and how she feels.  I guess this is one time in my life that food hasn't been too hard to ignore.  Seem unimportant right now.  My husband is the best person in the world and is soooooo supportive.

I had another fill this week.  Found out that they thought they put in 5ml but it only ended up being 3.5 ml so I have been working hard to stay on track because the band really wasn't restricting my eating.  So Wednesdays fill was another 1 ml which brough it to 4.5.  Seem low still.  Yesterday was liquids today is soft foods.  The good news is that I lost 4 lbs WOOOO HOOOOO.  I have officially hit 30 lbs lost.  Feeling much better each day and my clothes feel much better also.

Well here is to sticking to my weight loss goals!!  Cheers and here is to the week improving for Nana.  What "improving" means I am not sure but here is to her comfort!
